The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) announced its week two honors for the 2021 season on Thursday afternoon, with Oregon’s
Payton Coon earning Athlete of the Week honors to highlight the weekly awards. UO’s
Alyssa Hew was also recognized as the Specialist of the Week, and King’s
Alexis Wynn took home Freshman of the Week accolades for the second-consecutive week.
Payton Coon earned NCATA Athlete of the Week accolades after leading Oregon to a season-opening win over Arizona Christian last week. During the meet Coon competed in 12 heats and team event for UO, leading the Ducks to 11 scores of 9.50 or higher - including a 9.90 in compulsory toss and open toss, and a 9.85 in synchronized pyramid. She also scored a 9.80 in her individual tumbling pass, the six-element.
Alyssa Hew earned NCATA Specialist of the Week after starring for Oregon in the tumbling event last week. She began the tumbling event by helping Oregon score a 9.50 out of 9.80 in the trio tumbling pass, a synchronized pass with two other athletes. She was later impressive in the open tumbling pass with a 9.825 out of a possible 10.0.
Alexis Wynn repeats as NCATA Freshman of the Week following her performance against Limestone last week. Wynn competed in four heats plus team event during the meet. She began the meet by helping KU to a score of 9.30 in the compulsory pyramid, before also putting on a standout performance in three different tumbling heats. Wynn was a member of King’s compulsory tumbling event that scored an 8.95, then was a part of the trio tumbling pass that scored an 8.60 out of 9.10. Her individual tumbling pass, the six-element, also scored a 9.275 out of 9.50 for KU.
Honorable Mention – Athlete of the Week
Claire Guittard (King University)
Guittard competed in 13 heats plus team event to help King University improve to 2-0 on the season with a win over #10 Limestone. During the victory, Guittard helped King record six scores of 9.50 or higher, including a meet-high 9.70 in both the compulsory toss and acro six-element. She also scored a 9.20 in her individual tumbling pass, the aerial.
Honorable Mention – Specialist of the Week
Elizabeth White (King University)
White competed in all three pyramid heats during King’s win over Limestone, helping the Tornado record high scores in each heat. The senior began the event with a 9.45 out of a possible 9.90 in the inversion pyramid. Her performance was highlighted in the synchronized pyramid as White and King had minimum deductions with a 9.50 out of 9.80. White and the Tornado capped the event by scoring a 9.60 out of 10.0 in the open pyramid to wrap up the event.

Kaylie Barrera (University of Oregon)
Barrera competed in two different heats and team event for the University of Oregon during her NCATA debut last week. She helped the Ducks to an 8.45 out of 10.0 in compulsory tumbling, and was later impressive in the tumbling quad, helping Oregon score a 9.15 out of 9.40. She also competed in team event, which scored a 94.83 to wrap up the Ducks victory.
