NCATA Releases Week 1 Award Winners

Division I
Athlete of the Week – Payton Washington, Baylor
Washington, a junior top and tumbler from Round Rock, Texas, competed in seven heats and team event for Baylor, recording six scores 9.60 or higher. She helped record an event-high score of 9.90 in acro six-element.
 
Specialist of the Week – Blessyn McMorris, Oregon
McMorris, a fifth-year senior base from Lynwood, Ill., starred in the pyramid event for Oregon, helping the Ducks to scores of 9.85 or higher in each of the three heats.
 
Freshman of the Week – Mo Arthur, Baylor
Arthur, a base from Owenville, Mo., competed in seven heats and team event for Baylor, helping the Bears to a 10.0 in inversion pyramid and a pair of 9.90 scores in compulsory pyramid and acro seven-element.
 
Division II
Athlete of the Week – Taryn Laurence, Fairmont State
Laurence, a senior top and tumbler from Euless, Texas, competed in 13 heats and team event for Fairmont State over the weekend, recording nine scores of 9.50 or higher. She helped the Falcons to a perfect-10 in the open pyramid heat.
 
Specialist of the Week – Caitlyn Clendenin, Fairmont State
Clendenin, a sophomore mid-base from Greenville, S.C., starred in the pyramid event for Fairmont State, helping the Falcons to a 10.0 in the open pyramid and a 9.85 in the synchronized pyramid.
 
Freshman of the Week – Cali Way, Fairmont State
Way, a base and tumbler from Parkersburg, West Virginia, competed in six heats and team event for Fairmont State, helping the Falcons to a 9.85 in the synchronized pyramid and a 9.80 in compulsory toss.
