NCATA Announces Week 2 Award Winners

NCATA Athlete of the Week: Payton Springer, Azusa Pacific
 
Springer, a senior top and base from Newbury Park, Calif., competed in 10 heats and team event to lead Azusa Pacific to a win at Hawaii Pacific last week. In six heats, Springer helped APU record a score of 9.50 or higher, including a meet-high 9.90 as a top in the synchronized pyramid heat. She also helped the Cougars to a 9.85 in the compulsory toss and a 9.80 in the 450 salto toss.
 
NCATA Specialist of the Week: Kylie Brophy, Belmont Abbey
 
Brophy, a junior base from Fort Myers, Fla., competed as a base in all three tumbling heats for Belmont Abbey last week. She helped Crusaders to three scores of 9.70 or higher in the pyramid event, including a meet-high 9.90 in the open pyramid heat.
 
NCATA Freshman of the Week: Ashley Fry, Azusa Pacific
 
Fry, a freshman top from Troy, Mich., competed in three heats and team event for Azusa Pacific last week. Her performance was highlighted by a 9.85 in the compulsory toss heat, while also helping APU to scores of 9.80 and 9.60 in the 450 salto toss and synchronized toss, respectively.
 
 
NCATA Athlete of the Week – Honorable Mention
 
Jenna Hall (UMHB): Hall, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, competed in 10 heats and team event as UMHB defeated East Texas Baptist last week. She helped UMHB to four scores of 9.50 or higher, including a 9.85 in open pyramid and 9.75 in compulsory pyramid.
 
Ali Price (Gannon): Price, a senior from New Paris, Pa., competed in 10 heats and team event during Gannon’s win over Frostburg State. Her performance was highlighted by four scores of 9.55 or higher, including a 9.625 in the aerial tumbling pass.
 
 
NCATA Specialist of the Week – Honorable Mention
 
Kaylin Francavilla (Coker): Francavilla, a junior base from Long Tree, Colorado, competed in all three pyramid heats for Coker last week. Her performance helped the Cobras to a 9.60 or higher in each of the pyramid heats, including a 9.95 in the open pyramid heat.
 
Sarah Lang (Azusa Pacific): Lang, a senior from Shillington, Pa., was a standout in the tumbling event last week as APU topped Hawaii Pacific on the road. Lang’s performance was highlighted by a score of 9.90 in her individual tumbling pass (open pass). She also competed in duo tumbling, helping APU to a score of 9.45 (out of 9.75).
 
 
NCATA Freshman of the Week – Honorable Mention
 
Alex DeAngelis (Gannon): DeAngelis, a freshman base and tumbler from Audubon, N.J., competed in seven heats and team event for Gannon last week. She helped the Knights to high scores of 9.85 in compulsory toss and 9.75 in compulsory pyramid.
 
Alia Ellis (Iona): Ellis, a freshman base from Roseville, Calif., competed in nine heats and team event for Iona last week. Her performance was highlighted by a 9.70 in compulsory pyramid and a 9.55 in the inversion pyramid.
