NCATA Announces Week 3 Award Winners

NCATA Athlete of the Week: Karly Nowak (Oregon)
 
Nowak, a senior top, base and tumbler from Howell, N.J., competed in eight heats and team event for the Ducks during a win over Azusa Pacific. She helped Oregon to a score of 9.45 or higher in each of her heats, including a 9.90 in aerial tumbling, a 9.90 in compulsory toss and a 9.70 in acro five-element. Nowak competes as a top, mid-level base and tumbler throughout the meet for Oregon.
 
NCATA Specialist of the Week: Bayley Humphrey (Baylor)
 
Humphrey, a junior from Chandler, Ariz., was a standout mid-level base in all three pyramid heats for Baylor this week. She helped the Bears to a perfect 10.0 in the synch pyramid, while also helping Baylor to scores of 9.85 in both the inversion and open pyramid heats. She has now led Baylor to a perfect 10.0 in a pyramid heat for three-consecutive weeks.
 
NCATA Freshman of the Week: Janai Brown (Limestone)
 
Brown, a base and back base from Lilburn, Ga., competed in eight heats and team event for Limestone last week. Her performance helped Limestone score a 9.50 or higher in four heats, including a 9.80 in the compulsory toss and a 9.70 in the open pyramid.
 
 
NCATA Athlete of the Week (Honorable Mention)
 
Kamryn Kitchens (Baylor): Kitchens, a senior from Kennesaw, Ga., competed in 10 heats and team event for Baylor, helping the Bears to eight scores of 9.50 or higher, including a perfect 10.0 in synch pyramid and a 9.90 in aerial tumbling.
 
Abbie Baker (Frostburg State): Baker, a top and tumbler from Berlin, Md., competed in 12 heats and team event for the Bobcats during a non-conference win over King University. Baker competed in six heats that scored a 9.50 or higher during the meet, including a 9.85 in the compulsory pyramid and a 9.80 in the synch pyramid.
 
 
NCATA Specialist of the Week (Honorable Mention)
 
Lindsey Tarr (Oregon): Tarr, a senior from Chula Vista, Calif., served as a primary base in the inversion and open pyramid heats for the Ducks last week. Her performance in the heats helped Oregon to scores of 9.95 (inversion pyramid) and 9.85 (open pyramid), respectively.
 
Ellen Marie Sanders (Concordia-Wis): Sanders, a sophomore base from Joppa, Md., competed in as a primary base in the inversion and open pyramid heats for the Falcons. Her performance helped CUW score a 9.90 in the open pyramid heat.
 
 
NCATA Freshman of the Week (Honorable Mention)
 
Savanna Cecil (Baylor): Cecil, a tumbler from Crossville, Tenn., competed in two tumbling heats for the Bears last week, including scoring a 9.825 in the open tumbling heat as an individual. She was also a member of Baylor’s quad tumbling pass that scored a 9.0.
 
Layna Bergeron (Gannon): Bergeron, a base and back spot from Johnson, Rhode Island, competed in seven heats and team event for Gannon last week, helping the Knights to six scores of 9.65 or higher. Her performance was highlighted by a score of 9.95 in the inversion pyramid and a 9.85 in the synch pyramid.
