Athlete of the Week: Emily Tobin, Baylor
Tobin, a junior top and tumbler from Templeton, Calif., competed in 11 heats plus team event for the Bears. Her performance was highlighted by nine scores of 9.50 or higher, including a 9.95 in the open toss and a 9.90 in the compulsory pyramid. She also scored a 9.85 in the compulsory toss, a 9.80 in the compulsory acro and a 9.775 in the six-element tumbling pass as Baylor topped then-No. 7 Hawaii Pacific.
Specialist of the Week: Bayley Humphrey, Baylor
Humphrey, a sophomore from Chandler, Ariz., competed as a base and mid-level base during the pyramid event for the Bears, scoring a 9.85 or higher in each heat. The pyramid event performance included a 10.0 in the open pyramid, a 9.95 in the inversion pyramid and a 9.85 in the synchronized pyramid. She has been named Specialist of the Week for the third time this season.
Freshman of the Week: Cameron King, Limestone
King, a base from Haymarket, Va., competed in six heats and team event to help lead Limestone to a win over Lander in Conference Carolinas action. Her performance was highlighted by a 10.0 in the open pyramid and a 9.85 in the compulsory toss. In all, she helped Limestone record five scores of 9.50 or higher.
Honorable Mention (Athlete of the Week):
Cassidy Osher, Quinnipiac – Osher, a fifth-year senior from Old Bridge, N.J., competed in eight heats and team event for the Bobcats over the weekend. Osher’s performance was highlighted by a 9.85 in the compulsory toss and a 9.825 in the six-element tumbling pass. In all, Osher helped Quinnipiac to five scores of 9.60 or higher.
Ali Price, Gannon – Price, a sophomore top and tumbler from New Paris, Pa., competed in 10 heats and team event for Gannon last week during a road win over Kutztown. Her performance was highlighted by five scores of 9.50 or higher, including a 9.90 in the synchronized pyramid and a 9.80 in the compulsory pyramid. She also scored a 9.70 in her individual tumbling pass, the six-element pass.
Honorable Mention (Specialist of the Week):
Isabella Delacruz, Hawaii Pacific – Delacruz, a sophomore base and tumbler from Wantagh, N.Y., competed in all three pyramid heats for the Sharks, which included a 10.0 performance in the inversion pyramid. She was also in Hawaii Pacific’s open pyramid that scored a 9.90 and synchronized pyramid that scored a 9.50.
Marita Musser, Limestone – Musser, a senior from Mohnton, Pa., competed in two acro heats to lead Limestone. Her performance included a 9.95 in the five-element acro and a 9.85 in the seven-element acro. During the meet, she competed her 1-1 extended hand-in-hand three times as a handstand specialist.
Honorable Mention (Freshman of the Week):
Jordan Gruendler, Baylor – Gruendler, a top from San Antonio, Texas, competed in three heats that scored a 9.75 or higher for the Bears. Her performance was highlighted by a 9.95 in the inversion pyramid, a 9.80 in the seven-element acro and a 9.75 in the six-element acro.
Blessyn McMorris, Oregon - McMorris, from Lynwood, Illinois, competed in eight heats and team event to help lead Oregon against Quinnipiac over the weekend. As a base, McMorris was part of five heats that scored a 9.50 or higher, including a 9.85 in both the compulsory pyramid and inversion pyramid.
