Price, Harris and Manning Bring Home Week 10 NCATA Honors

NCATA Athlete of the Week: Ali Price, Gannon
 
Price, a sophomore top and tumbler from New Paris, Pa., earned NCATA Athlete of the Week honors for the second time after leading Gannon to a win over No. 4 Quinnipiac last weekend. During the top 5 matchup, Price competed in 10 heats and team event for the Knights, scoring a 9.50 or higher in nine of the 10 heats. Her performance was highlighted by a season-high performance in both of her tumbling passing, including a 9.90 in the six-element and a 9.70 in the duo. She also competed in Gannon’s open toss that scored a perfect 9.90 (out of 9.90).
 
NCATA Specialist of the Week: Briana Harris, Baylor
 
Harris, a fifth-year senior from Cibolo, Texas, started in the tumbling heat for the Ducks, scoring a 9.95 in the open tumbling pass and a 9.50 in the quad tumbling pass.
 
NCATA Freshman of the Week: Ayanna Manning, Converse
 
Manning, a freshman base and tumbling from Abingdon, Md., competed in 11 heats during the semifinals and finals of the Conference Carolinas Championships over the weekend. Her performance included nine heats that scored a 9.50 or higher during the championship event. She also helped lead Converse to CC event titles in the inversion pyramid, synchronized toss and trio tumbling pass.

 
Honorable Mention - Athlete of the Week:
Bayley Humphrey, Baylor
 
Humphrey, a sophomore base from Chandler, Ariz., competed in 10 heats and team event for the Bears last week. During the BU win over Oregon, Humphrey competed in 10 heats that scored a 9.65 or higher, including a perfect 10.0 in the compulsory toss and a 9.95 in the compulsory pyramid, inversion pyramid, synchronized pyramid and open pyramid.
 
Alexis Weller, Oregon
 
Weller, a junior base from Spokane, Wash., competed in nine heats and team event for Oregon last week. Her performance was highlighted by seven heats that scored a 9.50 or higher, including a 9.90 in both the compulsory pyramid and synchronized pyramid.
 
 
Honorable Mention – Specialist of the Week:
Sammy Gouge, Gannon
 
Gouge, a redshirt junior from Midland, Mich., was a standout in the pyramid event for the Knights last week. Serving as a base in two different heats, Gouge led the Knights to a 9.95 in the open pyramid heat and added a 9.65 in the synchronized pyramid heat.
 
Karly Nowak, Oregon
 
Nowak, a junior from Howell, N.J., competed and recorded two high scores in the tumbling event for the Ducks over the weekend. Her performance included a 9/80 in the six-element pass and a 9.60 in the duo pass.
 
 
Honorable Mention – Freshman of the Week:
Jordan Gruendler, Baylor

Gruendler, a top from San Antonio, Texas, competed in three heats and team event for the Bears last week. Her performance included two high scores in the acro event, including a 9.90 in the six-element acro and a 9.80 in the seven-element acro. She also served as a base during Baylor’s invsersion pyramid that scored a 9.95.
 
Blessyn McMorris, Oregon

McMorris, a base from Lynwood, Ill., competed in seven heats and team event during the Ducks season finale. Her performance included six heats that scored a 9.65 or higher, including a 9.90 in both the compulsory pyramid and synchronized pyramid. She also served as a base in two heats that scored a 9.85 for the Ducks, including the compulsory toss and inversion pyramid.
