Converse's Alyssa Loo Highlights Week 2 NCATA Awards

Athlete of the Week – Alyssa Loo (Converse)

Loo, a senior from Wesley Chapel, Fla., competed in 10 heats and team event for Converse last week against Coker. She competed as a base and led CU to high scores of 9.85 in both the acro six-element and open pyramid. She also helped Converse to scores of 9.80 in both the compulsory pyramid and inversion pyramid. In all, Loo helped the Valkyries record five scores 9.50 or higher.

 
Specialist of the Week - Sarah Williamson (Mary-Hardin Baylor)

Williamson, a freshman top and tumbler from Richardson, Texas, excelled in the pyramid event for Mary-Hardin Baylor this week. Her performance was highlighted by leading the Cru to a score of 9.75 in the open pyramid. She also competed in the inversion pyramid and helped UMHB to a score of 9.45.

 
Freshman of the Week – Madeline Robison (King)

Robison, a freshman top, base and tumbler from Loganville, Ga., competed in 12 heats and team event for King last week. Her performance was highlighted by a trio of compulsory scores that were higher than 9.30 (including compulsory acro, compulsory pyramid and compulsory toss). She also competed in the six-element tumbling pass and scored a 9.0 out of 9.50.

 
Athlete of the Week – Honorable Mention
Brooke McAfee (Limestone)
McAfee, a senior base and tumbler from Chapin, S.C., competed in 10 heats and team event for Limestone last week. During the meet, McAfee competed as a base, mid-level base and tumbler. She competed in compulsory toss during the meet, which scored Limestone’s first perfect-10 of the season.
 
Hannah O’Dea (King)
O’Dea, a senior top and tumbler from Leesburg, Va., competed in 10 heats and team event for the Tornado last week. Her performance was highlighted by a score of 9.85 in the open pyramid and a 9.50 in the five-element acro. In all, she led King to six scores of 9.0 or higher.

 
Specialist of the Week – Honorable Mention
Molly Hanley (Belmont Abbey)
Hanley, a senior from Spring Hill, Fla., had a standout performance in the tumbling event this week for Belmont Abbey. She began her tumbling performance by helping BAC to a score of 8.7 out of 9.1 in the trio tumbling pass. Later in the event, she scored a 9.225 out of 9.55 in the individual six-element pass.
 
Alexis Wynn (King)
Wynn, a sophomore from Waynesville, Ohio, competed in the five-element acro heat during King’s season-opening win over Lander last week. In the five-element acro, she helped the Tornado score a meet and event-high 9.50 out of 10.0.
 

Freshman of the Week – Honorable Mention
Olivia Daniels (Fairmont State)
Daniels, a freshman base and tumbler from Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, competed in five heats and team event for the Falcons. Her performance was highlighted by a 9.70 in compulsory pyramid and a 9.0 in compulsory toss. She also helped Fairmont State to a score of 8.60 out of 9.40 in the synchronized pyramid.
 
Ayanna Manning (Converse)
Manning, a freshman base and tumbler from Abingdon, Md., competed in nine heats and team event for Converse this week. During Converse’s win over Coker, Manning helped the team to a score of 9.85 in open pyramid and 9.80 in compulsory pyramid. She also recorded an 8.975 out of 9.1 in the open tumbling pass.
