The University of Oregon sits atop the initial set of 2021 National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) national rankings that were released on Wednesday afternoon by the association’s championship committee.
The national rankings are used by the championship committee to select the field for the annual NCATA National Championships, which are set for April 22-23, 2021 in Waco, Texas, on the campus of Baylor University.
Oregon (2-1) sits at No. 1 in the rankings and owns a head-to-head victory over No. 2 Baylor back on March 6. Baylor (2-1) checked-in at No. 2, followed by Hawaii Pacific (1-1) and unbeaten King University (5-0). Limestone has a 3-1 record on the year and begins the second half of the rankings at No. 5. Gannon (3-0), Fairmont State (3-0) and Converse (1-2) round out the rankings in the No. 6 through No. 8 spots.
Due to COVID-19, the 2021 NCATA championship field has been cut to four qualifying teams this spring. The semifinals will take place on April 22, with the National Championship Meet slated for April 23 in Waco.
This season, a team must compete in three meets to be eligible for NCATA National Championship qualification. Only teams with at least two meets competed were ranked this week by the committee. Two programs, Azusa Pacific University and Concordia University of Wisconsin were not eligible for this week’s rankings. Both teams will be eligible in future rankings, once they compete in a second meet.
The next set of NCATA national rankings will be announced on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 4 p.m. (ET).
