Oregon Selected As Host For 2020 NCATA National Championships

EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon will host the 2020 National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) National Championships on April 23-25 at Matthew Knight Arena, the association announced Wednesday.

"The University of Oregon is excited to host the 10th annual national championship event for acrobatics and tumbling," said UO athletic director Rob Mullens. "This sport has tremendous momentum right now with the NCAA hopefully soon designating it as an emerging sport. Oregon athletics made an early commitment to Acrobatics & Tumbling, and we are honored to host the championships for the talented and hard-working student-athletes that compete in this sport."

This will mark the second time that Eugene will host the event, with the last time coming back in 2011 when the university hosted the inaugural NCATA National Championship meet.

"We are excited to return to Eugene in the spring for the 2020 national championship," said Janell Cook, executive director of the NCATA. "Oregon has an incredible fan base that we know will show great support for all the competitors as well as a wonderful staff that will ensure a great experience for our student athletes."

Oregon has reached the NCATA Championship Finals eight times in the nine years of the event, winning national titles in 2011, 2013 and 2014. The Ducks have reached the semifinals in all nine years and have finished as national runner up five times.

"It has been an amazing year for our sport and we are so excited to be hosting the 2020 NCATA National Championship," said head coach Keenyn Won. "We were fortunate to host the inaugural NCATA National Championship and I'm so happy its coming back to Eugene. We're looking forward to having a strong fan base in attendance at MKA and giving our opponents an unforgettable tournament experience next April."

The eight-team event will begin with the quarterfinals on April 23, followed by the semifinals on April 24. The individual event finals and the team championship meet will be on April 25.
