Week 6 Roundup: Quinnipiac, Converse and Limestone Pick Up Wins Over The Weekend

No. 3 Quinnipiac 273.430, West Liberty 235.585 | RESULTS

No. 3 Quinnipiac won all six events and swept each of the 19 heats to pick up the win against West Liberty on Saturday afternoon. As a result, Quinnipiac improved its record to 1-2, while West Liberty fell to 2-4 on the year.

Quinnipiac took the lead from the start of the meet in the compulsory event, recording a 9.90 in the toss heat. The Bobcats dominated the acro event with a perfect 10.0 in the five-element heat. Quinnipiac finished the first half by winning the pyramid event, scoring a 9.85 in the open heat. The Bobcats started off the second half with a victory in the toss event, recording a 9.85 in the open heat. Quinnipiac also won the tumbling event by over four points and recorded an event high of 9.750 in the individual open pass. To wrap up the meet, the Bobcats outscored West Liberty, 94.28-80.66, in the team event, adding to the final margin of victory.

West Liberty scored a meet-high 9.35 in the toss heat of the compulsory event, before matching the score in the open heat of the pyramid event.

 

No. 8 Converse 276.565, No. 9 Alderson Broaddus 267.425 | RESULTS

No. 8 Converse won five events to pick up the win against No. 9 Alderson Broaddus on Saturday. With the win, Converse improves its record to 3-0. Alderson Broaddus falls to 2-2 on the year.

Converse started off strong in the compulsory event, recording two scores of 9.80 in the pyramid and toss heats. The Valkyries continued to carry the momentum into the acro event, scoring a 9.85 in the five-element acro. Closing out the last event of the first half, Converse dominated the pyramid event and scored a nearly perfect 9.95 in the inversion heat and a perfect 10.0 in the open heat, adding to its halftime lead. The Valkyries won the tumbling event, scoring a high of 9.425 in the aerial pass. Converse wrapped up the meet with a 98.04 in the team event to take the victory.

Alderson Broaddus scored a high of 9.75 in the toss heat of the compulsory event to begin the day. Later in the first half, the Battlers turned in a strong performance in the pyramid event, scoring a 9.85 in the inversion heat and nearly a perfect 9.95 in the open heat. Alderson Broaddus edged Converse to open the second half in the toss event, 27.90-27.10, recording a high of 9.80 in the open heat. The Valkyries scored an event high of 9.80 in the aerial pass of the tumbling event.

 

Limestone 254.180, Davis & Elkins 216.060 | RESULTS

Limestone won all six events and swept each of the 19 heats to pick up the win against Davis & Elkins on Sunday afternoon. As a result, Limestone improved its record to 4-1, while Davis & Elkins fell to 0-4.

Limestone started off the compulsory event with a win, scoring a high of 9.25 in the pyramid heat. The Saints also took the acro event by over five points, recording a 9.65 in the six-element acro. Limestone wrapped up the first half with a success in the pyramid event, scoring an event-high of 9.90 in the open heat. The Saints started off the second half of the meet with a victory in the toss event, scoring a high of 9.0 in the 450 salto. Limestone added to its lead by dominating the tumbling event, outscoring D&E by 50.700-43.500 margin. The Saints closed out the meet with a win in the team event, scoring 89.43 and moving to 4-1 on the season.

Davis & Elkins showed its strength in the pyramid event, scoring a 9.10 in the open heat and a 9.40 in the inversion heat.
