The 2019 Acrobatics & Tumbling season will get underway this weekend with four meets taking place from Saturday afternoon-Tuesday evening. The season will begin on Saturday at 2 p.m. when the Senators of Davis & Elkins host Georgetown and West Virginia Wesleyan in a tri-meet.
The action will continue on Sunday when the defending national champions, Baylor University, travel to West Liberty for a 1 p.m. meet. Alderson Broaddus will also travel to King (Tenn.) for a 2 p.m. meet on Sunday.
Tuesday evening will be the first-ever meet for Arizona Christian, as the Firestorm host national semifinalist Azusa Pacific at 5 p.m. (MST).

Tri-Meet: Georgetown and West Virginia Wesleyan at Davis & Elkins

Preview: Second-year program Davis & Elkins College will be looking for their first win in program history during Saturday's tri-meet … D&E will be meeting West Virginia Wesleyan for the second time in program history, and will face Georgetown for the first time … Georgetown dropped a dual meet at Wesleyan a season ago … The Bobcats will also be entering their second season as a member of the NCATA and will look to improve on their 4-3 record a season ago.
Baylor at West Liberty

Preview: West Liberty will begin its second season as a member of the NCATA by hosting the 2018 NCATA National Champion Baylor Bears at the ASRC … in 2018 during West Liberty's first season, the Hilltoppers went 2-4 with a pair of wins over Davis & Elkins … Sunday's meet will be the first of three-straight home meets for West Liberty … Baylor was voted the preseason No. 1 team in the NCATA Coaches' Poll and returns the 2018 Most Outstanding Athlete (Ceara Gray) and Specialist of the Year (Kaylee Adams) in 2019 … the Bears are on a 19-meet winning streak dating back to 2/25/17.
Alderson Broaddus at King

Preview: Alderson Broaddus and King are set for the first matchup of top 10 teams during the 2019 NCATA season … ABU was ranked ninth in the preseason top 10 after missing the cut for last season's NCATA Championships … the Battlers qualified for six heats at individual event finals a season ago … like ABU, No. 10 King will be looking to return to the NCATA Championship Tournament after finishing outside of the top eight a season ago … King went 1-5 a season ago but qualified for two heats during individual event finals (Five-Element Acro, Six-Element Tumbling).
Azusa Pacific at Arizona Christian

Preview: Arizona Christian is the first of five first-year programs to begin competition during the 2019 season … under first-year head coach Brandy Duren, the Firestorm will begin competition by hosting 2018 National Semifinalist Azusa Pacific … APU entered last season's NCATA Championships as the No. 2 seed and topped Hawai'i Pacific to advance to the national semifinals … Azusa Pacific, the No. 4 ranked team in the NCATA Preseason Top 10, will have to replace a pair of All-American that graduated following the 2018 season (Heather Hovander, Ashleigh Pitts).
